While I created art since I was a child, the direction of my life was shaped forever when I took my first drawing class at the age of 18. I was always curious about art, but seeing the potential of what I could create in that classroom led me to dedicate more and more time to it. I have always had a love of learning but there was something about drawing and painting that captured my interest like nothing else.
From Renaissance artists I first learned to approach art and the creation of pictures with a curious mind. From American watercolorists I learned my favorite medium and a style of loose, calm realism. From Japanese artists I learned about simplicity and to paint the spirit of things.

Ten years later, after exploring art through studio classes in school, connecting science and drawing, and travelling wherever my desire took me, I have found something special I want to share with you.
As we become older, our minds often see more things as familiar. Everyday things become bland and overlooked. We stop seeking out adventure in new experiences or more depth in things we know well. In my work I want to share the often forgotten experience of awe and wonder with others. I experienced those moments that make me pause and just take in the moment or wonder about the vastness of our universe. From the beauty of the towering clouds in the summer sky to the endless variety of nature to the reflections of streetlights on a rainy street. |
With a subdued palette and a unique combination of techniques I create paintings which I hope share a feeling of a clear mind and joy from witnessing beauty.
I am always honored when somebody is affected by my painting and says, "Seeing this makes me see what you painted in a new way. I appreciate it more than I used to." This is exactly what I am hoping to give through my art.
